It's FA-BOO-LOUS Halloween Time!

You probably have been as busy as I have been and not noticed but I took a break from writing blog posts (because well...life!) and that break turned into days, then weeks, then months. But one of my favorite holidays is a reason to jump back on this blog-on! (did you get that, a bad spin on "wagon" lol!)

Halloween 2020 is not going to be the same as past years but at this point, 6+months into this strange world we are living in, we are probably very used to tossing our hands up and saying "it's okay kids, we will make the best of it!"

So in case you have not figured out "how to make the best of it" here are some ideas that I have found from other (way more creative) parents. I have listed these in order of less planning to a bit more involved:

1. Easy activities that takes the guess work out of it! This website has a great packet of fun activities to do with kids of all ages. Full disclosure, I have not done any yet but plan to try throughout this week with my kids.

It includes: Halloween Bingo, a neighborhood scavenger hunt, window decorations and more!

2. Paint a pumpkin? Yes please! We found these wooden pumpkins at our local craft store and I set the kids up with paint and they went to town. These make great front door decorations too don't you think!?

3. Got amazon boxes?! Next up, a really cool looking, I would never think of this kind of thing myself project! Leave it to @busytoddler to come up with the cutest activities. She gives all the directions which include using painters tap to tape a spider web pattern. Then have the kids paint in the sections and let it dry. Then BOO!

4. For the day of Halloween, we have two ideas for making the day worth putting your costume on for! Though let's be serious, do we really need a reason to put on a costume and belt out "Into the Unknown?" Not in this house, we don't!

On Halloween day, we plan to do a neighborhood "socially distant- safe-dress up-count the decoration-treat walk!" What in the spook is that? A few neighbors are going to fill up small treat bags and string them up in front of our houses. We are having each family who is participating, fill out a google sheet with how many kids they have, their address and if their kids have any food allergies. Our kids will dress up and walk the neighborhood to grab their treat bags and maybe even use this decoration check list to tally decorations (credit @flylittledragon).

Later that night, we are going to do a scavenger hunt in our house and backyard by hiding treats in each room of our house (and our backyard). We will probably end the night with creating a family tik tok (because why not?!)

Hope you have a FA-BOO-LOUS Halloween!
